MANILAcasino infinity, Philippines — Metal detectors and X-ray machines at the entrances to Ninoy Aquino Internatinal Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 to 4 have been switched off to minimize queuing time for travelers entering the facilities.

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) general manager for security Robert Rouland has directed the NNIC Electronic Communication Division to deactivate the equipment in response to complaints about the long lines at the gates of the four NAIA passenger terminals.

“This measure is aimed at addressing the issue of long queuing times and resources consumption during periods of increased passenger traffic,” Rouland said in his instruction dated Oct. 23.

He said the measure will not compromise security at the terminals.

“Despite the deactivation of the X-ray and (metal detector) machinescasino infinity, we will continue to deploy guards at the entrances to conduct thorough access control measures,” he said. “These measures will include checking boarding passes and employee IDs, as well as maintaining a vigilant presence to deter any potential security threats.”
