MANILAcasombie, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has approved the allocation of P935,262,000 to fund 88 industrial and emerging technology research and development projects next year.

The DOST-Philippine Council for Industrial, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) signed memorandum of agreements with some 32 higher education institutions and state universities and colleges, 16 startup companies and business enterprises, and eight DOST institutions and affiliate organizations, including some non-government agencies such as the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology and the Cybercraft Philippines Association last Oct. 18 at the Sheraton Hotel Manila in Pasay.

Some of the projects have a one-year term duration, while others have multi-year term durations, from two up to three-year term runs.

Enrico Paringit, DOST-PCIEERD executive director, said they were optimistic on the prospects of the 88 research and development projects and initiatives they were funding, saying these were closely evaluated, screened and approved for funding by the DOST.

“PCIEERD is dedicated to fostering investment and collaboration through our esteemed projects and programs. Today’s event is a step closer to our commitment to making innovations work with everyonecasombie,” Paringit said.
